-no person shall be prosecuted and punished for the same offense more than once.

Essentials-

1)- Previous Prosecution.

2)- Conviction.

3)- Other prosecution for same offense. 

Note-

The term prosecution means initiation of any criminal proceeding. It means Article 20(2) will not apply where the proceedings are of civil nature.
