Story 5 - The Lion and Clever Fox

Once upon a time there was an old and lazy lion in the forest of Cape Town. His name was Daku Singh. He was cunning and a big liar. He fooled everyone. One day he felt too weak to go out to hunt for food. He thought, "If I don't eat, very soon I 'Il die. I'll have to do something." Then he thought of a plan, if he sat outside his cave under a tree holding his head, surely all the animals will visit to him. His plan worked. He sat and A squirrel sitting on the tree heard him and told all the animals of the forest about Daku Singh's illness. All the animals felt pity for Daku Singh and they came to visit him with fruits, nuts and vegetables. One by one the animals came to visit the lion but nobody went back from the cave. After some days Daku Singh became healthy and handsome. All this was possible because he had eaten all the animals who had come to meet him with love and generosity. One day a fox named Jack came to see the lion. The fox was clever and smart. He stood at the entrance of the cave and asked Daku Singh, "How are you my healthy friend? Hope you are feeling well now." The cunning lion replied, "Oh! No, I still feel very weak and will soon die. Even you are very far I can hardly see you. Please come closer so that I can see you." Then Jack replied," Oh! No my dear, I know what you did to all those kind and generous animals. They had come to help you and give you food because you were ill. What did you do? You ate them all. I can see the bones of all the dead animals in your cave. Daku Singh was silent. Jack went back into the jungle. He was the only animal alive and he never came to him again.
